Thousands of miles of unspoiled wilderness, only a few people living nearby and snow covered roads that no one is using.
Overnights will be spent in the cosy remote Wilderness Centre, offering twin rooms, sauna and delicious meals in the main building. Daily distances are 100 – 170 km, driving 1 person per snowmobile. All meals included!

For all the activities including snowmobiling we ask you to take your driving licenses with you. Also copy and photos are suitable.

Day 1 (~170 km)

  • Morning pick-up from your hotel /airport / train station in Rovaniemi.
  • Bus transfer towards Finnish-Russian border in the village of Salla (2 hours).
  • Border formalities.
  • Preparations: we provide you with thermal outfits (trousers, jacket, woolen socks, boots, scarf, commando hat and gloves), driving equipment and a waterproof bag for your personal supplies needed during the tour. The rest of your luggage will be kept in Kuusamo and you will receive it back when returning from the safari.
  • Snowmobiling through the Karelian Wilderness (about 170 km).
  • Lunch stop on the way.
  • In the evening we will arrive to the Wilderness Center.
  • Accommodation in twin rooms.
  • Relaxing evening in the sauna.
  • Delicious dinner.
  • Overnight.

Day 2 (~100 km)

  • Breakfast in the lodge.
  • Snowmobiling tour in the beautiful Paanajärvi National Park.
  • Lunch cooked on a fire in the Mäntykoski camp site.
  • Ice-fishing (trout, Arctic char, perch) activities at the nearby lake.
  • Return late in the afternoon to the Wilderness Centre.
  • Relaxing sauna.
  • Delicious dinner.
  • Overnight.

Day 3 (~100 km)

  • Breakfast in the lodge.
  • Snowmobiling on a scenic route to top of Päänuorunen hill (468m).
  • Lunch.
  • Snowmobiling in deep snow to see beautiful Kivakka rapid.
  • Afternoon return to the Wilderness Centre.
  • Relaxing sauna.
  • Delicious dinner.
  • Overnight.

Day 4 (~170 km)

  • Early breakfast in the lodge.
  • Snowmobiling back to Finland.
  • Lunch on the way.
  • Crossing of the Finnish-Russian border in Salla.
  • Repacking all the equipment and bus transfer back to Rovaniemi, end of the safari.
  • You will be rewarded with the Great Adventure Certificates.
  • Transfer to your hotel / airport / train station.

  • Group size is maximum 8 people plus guide.
  • You will get high quality thermal outdoor outfits and boots for the snow mobile safari. We will ask for your sizes before hand and the outfits will be waiting you on spot. There is no personal outdoor equipment required, but functional long sport underwear and warm layer beneath your jacket is recommended for your own comfort.
  • We will teach you some practical skills for snowmobiling, route for driving will be decided in each morning according to the weather conditions.
  • Accommodation in the Wilderness Center is offering twin rooms in the larger cabin with common bathroom, toilet, sauna and kitchen. Dinners will be served in the main building restaurant, open bar every night.
  • Deductibles in case of snowmobile damage 900 €.
  • Please note you will be responsible for applying the Russian visa. Passport has to be valid for at least 6 months in safari date forward.
