Northern Lights Photography Tour

  • Duration 4-5 hours
  • Distance 1-2 km
  • Suitable for Adults

Our focus is on the Rovaniemi area and we will travel by minivan. We start from Rovaniemi city center and begin with a meeting about our tour of the day. We will give you a short briefing about current weather conditions, Aurora forecast and about our destination of the day.

Northern Lights are always unpredictable and there is no guarantee that we will find them every night. What we can promise is that we give you the best possible chance to find, experience and photograph these colourful wonders of the Arctic area. We have a real-time information feed coming into our minivan. Based on the live feed and on local weather and Aurora forecasts we can significantly improve our chances of finding Auroras. This means that if we have a clear sky and even a slight possibility to see aurora 100 km away, we will take the chance and drive you there.
After reaching our destination we will leave the minivan and continue on foot equipped with headlamps and if necessary, snowshoes. We will walk through snowfields and darkness to reach the perfect spot in the middle of nature. On the spot we will build up a campfire, eat some snacks and prepare our cameras for Northern Light photography. During the night we normally visit 2-3 different locations to be able to photograph different kind of landscapes.

As our tours are photography based and quite demanding we have a minimum age of 12 years to participate in our activities.

Please note: We highly recommend that you bring your own DSLR camera to our tours, as we cannot guarantee that you are able to take night photos with compact or phone cameras.
