Destination: Rovaniemi
Ride out as daylight fades on this 2,5 hour evening safari, timed to a daily 17:30 departure so you catch Lapland’s forest exactly as it shifts from afternoon blue to twilight indigo. After suiting up in thermal gear at the Safari Center, you’ll follow your guide along trails through snow-covered forest and frozen wetland, the beam of your headlight cutting through the dimming light as the trees close in around you.
Midway through the ride, you’ll pull off the trail into a quiet clearing where your guides will prepare a crackling campfire. This is where the tour earns its name: gather around the flames, take off your helmet for a few minutes, and enjoy grilled Finnish sausages and warm berry juice while your guide shares stories about life above the Arctic Circle — folklore, survival tips, and a bit of local history you won’t find in a guidebook. It’s a genuinely cozy pause in the middle of an otherwise fast-moving ride.
Back on the snowmobiles, the second half of the tour rides through a forest that’s fully dark by now, lit only by your headlights and — on clear nights — a blanket of stars overhead. It’s a different kind of experience from a daytime safari: quieter, more atmospheric, and often the first time guests get a real sense of just how dark and vast the Arctic wilderness becomes once the sun goes down.
