A step beyond the basics: this 2-hour safari rides deeper into Arctic Circle forest trails than our shorter tours, giving you more time in the saddle without asking you to work for it. After driving instruction and a safety briefing at the Safari Center, you’ll head out at a comfortable, unhurried pace along trails that wind through dense, snow-heavy spruce forest and open onto wide, frozen clearings.
The extra hour compared to our entry-level tours means you’ll cover noticeably more ground: expect longer straight stretches where you can settle into a rhythm, gentle curves through the trees that keep things interesting, and a few open landscapes where the forest falls away to reveal the flat white expanse of the Arctic Circle stretching toward the horizon. Wildlife tracks are common along these routes — keep an eye out for the prints of hare, fox, and reindeer crossing the trail.
This tour sits in a sweet spot: substantial enough to feel like a real wilderness adventure, but still paced for beginners, couples and families. A solo-driving option is available for anyone who’d rather have their own snowmobile instead of sharing, and children ride comfortably in a guide-pulled sleigh throughout.

FAQs
Is this tour good for beginners?
Yes — it’s paced comfortably for first-time riders while covering more distance than a 1-hour taster.
Can children join?
Children aged 4 and up ride in a sleigh behind the guide, or if they are over 140 cm tall may upgrade to the adult price to ride on the back of the snowmobile as a passenger.
How much snowmobile driving do I actually get?
This is very dependent upon the composition of your group and their comfort level. Our guides always evaluate the conditions for optimal enjoyment, but if you want to get the most out of this experience, we recommend single-driving option.
Will I see any wildlife?
Sightings aren’t guaranteed, but tracks from hare, fox, and reindeer are commonly spotted crossing the trail. If our guide spots signs of wildlife, they will point them out to you during the tour and can share additional information with you during your breaks.
Important Information
- Guests must be present at our Safari Center no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. During this 30-minute period, we provide you with your thermal clothing, instruct you in dressing procedures, provide guidance and training concerning the safe operation of the snowmobiles and complete all necessary paperwork prior to the official departure time. In doing so, we ensure that you get to enjoy the maximum amount of time participating in the activity, itself.
- For safety reasons, infants and children under 4 years of age are not permitted to participate in this safari. If no one in your travel party possesses has a valid and accepted driver’s licence, this tour can be enjoyed as a scenic sleigh ride. We do not recommend that pregnant women participate in snowmobile safaris.
- In accordance with Finnish traffic and motor vehicle laws, you must have your physical driver’s license with you in order to operate a snowmobile. If you do not have your driver’s license, you will not be able to drive during the tour and no refund can be offered.

PRICE INCLUDE
- The prices include all described activities, services and equipment.
- Some of the products include in winter season a thermal overall, boots, gloves and woolen socks, in snowmobile safaris also helmet and balaclava. This is mentioned in product info.
- Please note: in winter time you always need to have winter outfit for all programs.
GUIDANCE
- Guidance is in English, other languages are available on request basis with a possible supplement of 39 € per hour through Monday to Saturday and 55 € per hour on Sundays or bank holidays.
SNOWMOBILE TOURS:
- The driver of a snowmobile has to be at least 18 years old and hold a valid, class B driving license (car or van – check the acceptability of your license in comparison to Finnish standards).
- In accordance with Finnish traffic and motor vehicle laws, you must have your physical driver’s license with you in order to operate a snowmobile. If you do not have your driver’s license, you will not be able to drive during the tour and no refund can be offered.
- Please note that it is strictly prohibited to drive a snowmobile under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- The starting point for the safari is stated in the booking confirmation.
- The snowmobile driver is held liable for any damages caused to the snowmobile. The driver is held liable for a flat rate of 900 € per person in case of an accident. The self liability flat rate can be reduced to 200€ per driver/accident case by purchasing a self liability waiver from Wild Nordic for 20 €/driver for the shorter (1-4 hour) safaris and for 30 €/driver for the longer (5-8 hour) safaris.
- Teenagers must be at least 140cm to sit on a snowmobile paying adult price. Children will be sitting on a sleigh pulled by the guide snowmobile if the type of tour allows it.
- Sleigh rides are not recommended for children younger than 3 years old.
- Solo travellers or participants in group with odd numbers might have to share a snowmobile with someone from another party. If the traveler wish to not share a snowmobile, a single driver supplement can be purchased on spot (subject to availability).
- Wild Nordic Finland does not recommend pregnant individuals to ride on the snowmobile or in the sled pulled by the snowmobile as the vibrations and exhaust fumes may be harmful to the human body. If the program requires special arrangement (e.g. additional transport), Wild Nordic shall not be responsible for the possible extra costs.If the pregnant individual decides to participate in the activity against the advice of Wild Nordic Finland, it is done at their own risk and shall release Wild Nordic from any liability to any occurring injuries to the pregnant customer or the unborn child.
NORTHERN LIGHTS TOURS:
- Northern lights are a natural occurrence and we are unable to guarantee activity, vibrancy or the colour on the evening of the tour.
HIKING BASED ACTIVITIES:
- For hiking based activities a reasonable level of fitness is recommended.
ROVANIEMI
- All safaris start and end at Wild Nordic Safari Center office (Joulupukintie 1) located next to Santa Claus Village. The starting point and time for the safari is stated in the booking confirmation.
- Most of the tours include a transfer from the meeting points in the central area of Rovaniemi. Customers shall wait for their pick-up at the given meeting time and point notified by Wild Nordic. All the pick-up times are subject to a 10-minute difference depending on the other participants joining the tours.
- For the tours ending at the Wild Nordic Safari Center, located next to the Santa Claus Village, you can always skip the return transfer if you wish to visit Santa Claus.
LEVI
- All safaris start and end at in the centre of Levi at the given meeting point of the tour. The starting point and time for the safari is stated in the booking confirmation.
